VCU Member Ashley Leahman Awarded 2018 Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grant

VCU undergraduate student Ashley Leahman was recently announced as a Phi Kappa Phi 2018 Study Abroad Grant recipient, a national award that provides a grant of $1,000 to support academic studies. Leahman is majoring in Spanish within the VCU School of World Studies and English within the VCU College of Humanities and Sciences. 

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi currently awards seventy-five Study Abroad Grants each year with the mission of supporting undergraduate students as they seek knowledge and experience in their academic fields by studying abroad. 

"The Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grant gave me the opportunity to study abroad a second time during my undergraduate studies," said Leahman. "Studying abroad has been an experience that helped me work harder and appreciate my study on deeper levels. I think everyone should try to study abroad during their undergrad. During a study abroad period you learn so much more than just in the classroom! This semester at Leiden University I have had great classes and have even been working towards mastering my third language–Dutch!"
